Course Overview

The school office is the hub of day-to-day pupil data management. Using typical scenarios encountered on a regular basis, this course takes a new user through the main procedures for maintaining accurate and useful data within the school’s MIS.

The course will take approximately 5-6 hours to complete.


What will you learn?

  • finding your way around SIMS
  • looking up pupil information
  • making day-to-day adjustments to pupil details
  • extending pupil details (attaching individual photos, entering traveller status, recording nationality and passport information)
  • managing historical records
  • adding agents and linking them to agencies
  • responding to information received about pupils and contacts
  • dealing with leavers
  • dealing with new arrivals
  • recording exclusions
  • sending a letter home
  • running basic reports from SIMS.

Will I get a certificate? 

On Completion of the course you can claim a School ICT certificate of course completion.


How long do I have access to the course? 

You will have a year to complete the course.

£156 inclusive of VAT


How do I purchase the course?

To purchase this course via your school/organisation you can pay by invoice. Please E-mail: [email protected] specifying if you have a purchase order and which course(s) you wish to purchase.  We require the name and address of the person paying for the course. If you are in a school this may be your Finance department. If you are purchasing a course for another member of staff, we will also need their name for the certificate and their email address to enroll them on the course. The student will receive an email once the course is available to access.

To purchase this course privately you can pay by bank transfer. Please contact our Finance team on 0345 2226802 to make a bank transfer. The course will be accessible on receipt of payment. We need your full name and an email address to enroll you on the course.  

Terms of usage.

  • Courses will be accessible for 12 months from the date of purchase.
  • Once access has been granted to distance learning, no refund will be given.
  • Under no circumstances should the course content be downloaded, copied or shared with other schools.
  • Under no circumstances should your access details be shared.
